Davies dazzles in the desert at AHL All-Star debut

February 5, 2025

The American Hockey League’s brightest stars were shining in Palm Desert, California, this past weekend as the Coachella Valley Firebirds (AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken) hosted the 20205 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Spotlight 29 Casino.

The Belleville Senators were well represented by defenceman Jeremy Davies, who was making his first AHL All-Star appearance in his first season with Belleville. In case you missed it, here’s a recap of how Davies fared during the 2025 AHL All-Star Skills Competition, won by Davies and Team Eastern Conference, and the 2025 AHL-Star Challenge tournament, which saw Davies and Team North Division finish with a 1-2-0 record and just miss out on an appearance in the final game.

Davies was featured in three events during the 2025 AHL All-Star Skill Competition presented by Spotlight 29 Casino and Silvercrest. Davies began the night in the one-on-one fourth heat of the Inglasco Puck Control Relay and finished just behind Jani Nyman (Coachella Valley Firebirds/Seattle Kraken).

The Senators defenceman then teamed up with Dalibor Dvorsky (Springfield Thunderbirds/St. Louis Blues) and Alex Steeves (Toronto Marlies/Toronto Maple Leafs) in the Silvercrest Pass and Score competition. The trio had a perfect round, scoring three times in three attempts on Devin Cooley (Calgary Wranglers/Calgary Flames).

He rounded out his first AHL All-Star Skills Competition by skating in the first round of the Upper Deck Breakaway Relay with a group of Eastern Conference players that included Brian Pinho (Bridgeport Islanders/New York Islanders), Trevor Carrick (Charlotte Checkers/Florida Panthers), Emil Bemstrom (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins/Pittsburgh Penguins), and Trey Fix-Wolansky (Cleveland Monsters/Columbus Blue Jackets). Davies was the only member of his group to score on goaltender Sebastian Cossa (Grand Rapids Griffins/Detroit Red Wings).

The second day of the weekend provided a nail-biting tournament featuring teams from each division in the AHL. Davies was pointless in a 3-2 loss against Team Pacific in game one, but had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over the eventual champs from the Central Division in their second matchup. He was unable to find the scoresheet in their third game, a narrow 2-1 loss to the Atlantic Division, with the North Division finishing with a 1-2-0 record and narrowly missing out on a spot in the final.

Davies and the Senators are back in action this Friday (February 7) when they visit the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres) and this Saturday (February 8), when they make a stop against the Utica Comets (AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils). They’ll play a home game at Canadian Tire Centre, home of the Ottawa Senators, on February 12 against the Laval Rocket (AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) and then return to CAA Arena on Friday, February 14, against the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs).
