Gabriel Pizza Gameday Build-Up: Senators look to extend streak on Winning Wednesday against Rochester

October 29, 2025

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 vs Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres)

The set-up:

Riding their first three-game win streak of the season, including a pair of victories on the road in Toronto last weekend, the Belleville Senators are back on home ice to face another North Division foe, as the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres) make their first visit of the season to CAA Arena. Belleville has outscored opponents 15-8 over its past three games, after scoring only eight times in the season’s opening week, and seems to have found some offensive consistency alongside the trademark defensive style the club has become known for. And as the Senators look to repeat on Winning Wednesday, as they did last week against Laval, they know another formidable challenge awaits them tonight in the form of the Amerks. Rochester has also won three straight games, including a 4-3 victory at Cleveland last Saturday, and sits three points ahead of Belleville in the early-season standings.

Previous History:

This will be the first of eight matchups between Belleville and Rochester this year, with the Senators posting a 3-5-0-0 record in their season series in 2024-25. Stephen Halliday was Belleville’s best offensive player against Rochester last season, posting a goal and five assists over eight games, while Rochester’s Konsta Helenius notched five goals and seven assists for 12 points against Belleville last season. All-time against the Amerks, Belleville is 27-17-5-1, and 11-9-4-1 on home ice.

Roster Notes:

Belleville goaltender Hunter Shepard was called up to Ottawa after picking up both wins in Toronto on the weekend, but has since been returned to the AHL. With fellow netminder Mads Sogaard leaving Sunday’s game in Toronto, the Senators have also recalled goalie Jackson Parsons from his loan to the ECHL’s Allen Americans. Both Jamieson Rees and Jan Jenik continued to be out of the lineup due to inury last weekend, as well. Two  Full lineup details available via the Senators social media feeds (@BellevilleSens) at the start of warm-up, about half an hour before puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Two young defenceman are bringing three-game point streaks into tonight’s mid-week affair. Jorian Donovan (four assists) and Carter Yakemchuk (one goal, two assists) have been consistently contributing from the blueline over the Senators current run. Meanwhile, Stephen Halliday is among the league leaders in points (eight) and Xavier Bourgault leads the league in shorthanded goals (two). Halliday, Bourgault, and Arthur Kaliyev each had a goal and an assist last Sunday in Toronto.

Four Amerks are carrying three-game point streaks into tonight as well, including Jagger Joshua (two goals, one assist), Isak Rosen (one goal, three assists), Zac Jones (five assists), and Viktor Neuchev. Rosen is tied for third in the AHL scoring race, while Jones leads the league in assists and is also among the AHL’s top early-season point getters.

At the Rink:

It’s the second Winning Wednesday of the season, which means if you’re at the game tonight and the Sens win, you’ll win a free ticket to the game on Wednesday December 3, 2025, against the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs). Fans will be able to support the Stirling Minor Hockey Association through a second-period Chuck-A-Puck fundraiser, with plenty of Stirling Minor Blues in the house tonight!
