Gabriel Pizza Gameday Build-Up: Sens and Moose clash again in Winnipeg as road trip comes to a close

The set-up:

It’s been a long week away for the Belleville Senators, and frankly, a long month, as they’ve played eight of 11 games so far in November on the road, and will play a ninth tonight in Winnipeg again against the Manitoba Moose. The good news is, once the Senators return to the Bay of Quinte after tonight’s game at Canada Life Centre, they’ll play 13 of their next 15 games on home ice. And while it’s comforting to know that a lengthy stretch at CAA Arena is just around the corner, the Senators would like nothing more than to earn another pair of points, splitting their results on this four-game trip, and help them keep pace in the midst of a four-team log jam at the top of the division. Manitoba is also trying to charge into first place in the Central, but they’re seven points back of the top spot after losing to Belleville yesterday morning.

Previous History:

Belleville’s 5-2 win at Canada Life Centre yesterday improved their lifetime record against Manitoba to 20-14-5-0, and 11-5-3-0 on the road in Winnipeg. Tonight’s matchup is the second of four between the teams in 2025-26, with the Moose not visiting the Sens until late March. After one game in the season series, Oskar Pettersson is the top scorer between both teams, finding the net twice yesterday.

Roster Notes:

There have been no transactions reported between Ottawa, Belleville, and Allen, as of posting time this morning. Forwards Stephen Halliday and Hayden Hodgson, and goaltender Leevi Merilainen all remain with the NHL Senators, while Danny Katic and Mark Duarte are still up with Belleville from ECHL Allen. Lassi Thomson returned to the Belleville lineup yesterday after being loaned back to the AHL with Olle Lycksell last weekend, but Lycksell didn’t dress yesterday. Goaltender Hunter Shepard, defenceman Matt Andonovski, and forward Tyler Boucher are all still hurt.

Who to Watch:

Oskar Pettersson recorded his first multi-goal game of the season yesterday, scoring twice and finishing with three shots on goal and a +3 rating. Meanwhile, rookie defenceman Carter Yakemchuk’s offensive side has been showing, with the 20-year-old riding a season-long five-game point streak (one goal, five assists) into tonight. Yakemchuk was credited with one assist, four shots on net and a +2 rating yesterday. Phil Daoust continues his strong season with points in back-to-back games (one goal, two assists), and Arthur Kaliyev recorded his fifth multi-point game of the season with one goal, one assist, and seven shots on goal.

Three Moose players have points in back-to-back games after yesterday’s loss to Belleville. Walker Duehr (one goal, one assist), Mason Shaw (two assists), and Jaret Anderson-Dolan (two assists) all had helpers yesterday, while Parker Ford and Kale Clague scored for Manitoba. Danny Zhilkin had a three-game point streak (three goals, one assist) snapped yesterday against the Sens.
