Game Day Build-Up: Sens return to CAA Arena to defend five game home winning streak against Moose

February 26, 2025

Belleville Senators Game Day Build-Up
Feb.26/25 vs Manitoba Moose (AHL affiliate: Winnipeg Jets)

The Set Up:

The road may have been a tough place for the Belleville Senators to be at recently. However, it’s been home sweet home at CAA Arena for the last five games, and the Sens are hoping to extend that unbeaten run on home ice tonight as they welcome the Manitoba Moose for the first of two games this week. The Sens got back to Belleville early Tuesday morning after beating the Cleveland Monsters on back-to-back days and have got themselves within a win of tying the Syracuse Crunch for the fifth and final playoff spot in the North Division. They’ll aim to do that tonight against the Manitoba Moose, who sit last in the Central Division and are the lowest-scoring team in the American Hockey League. It will likely be a tough test as they also try to make a significant push toward the playoffs.

Previous History:

Belleville and Manitoba have already met twice this season, with the Senators taking both games from the Moose at Canada Life Centre back in December. Zack MacEwen (two goals, one assist), Wyatt Bongiovanni (one goal, two assists), and Jeremy Davies (three assists) all three points over that doubleheader. The pair of wins on the road improved Belleville’s lifetime record against the Moose to 18-14-4-0 and 10-5-3-0 in Winnipeg. The Senators are 8-9-1-0 in their lifetime against the Moose at CAA Arena.

Roster Notes:

The recall yo-yo has been spinning up and down again in recent days with a trio of transactions to pass along ahead of tonight’s contest. The Ottawa Senators have recalled forwards Angus Crookshank and Jan Jenik to the National Hockey League, with this being Crookshank’s first recall of the season. To add some support up front, Jake Chiasson was reassigned to Belleville from the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL). Full lineup details will be available before the game via the Belleville Sens social channels (@BellevilleSens). Who to Watch:

Cole Reinhardt returned to the Belleville lineup from the NHL on Sunday and made an immediate impact, scoring for the Senators in regulation time to tie their Monday matchup with the Monsters. Reinhardt has been back-and-forth to the NHL a fair amount this season, but has been a picture of consistency when he’s assigned to the AHL. Reinhardt is averaging a point per game this season in Belleville with 21 (nine goals, 12 assists), and has two points (one goal, one assist) in 17 NHL games with Ottawa this season.

Moose forward Brad Lambert has been excelling this season, leading Manitoba in scoring 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) in 39 AHL games this season. The 30th overall pick by the Winnipeg Jets in 2022 didn’t play in the two games against Belleville earlier this season, as he was called up to the Jets, where he has dressed in five NHL games and registered one assist. Lambert had two assists in three games against Belleville last season.
